Fairies are small, beautiful beings that live in forests. They are extremely magical. They never fight physically. Instead, they work with all kinds of illusion, charm, and curse spells. Fairies are very fond of children. Often, fairies will enter and steal children from villages and homes, leaving a changeling behind in their place. These children will then be taken and raised by the fairies until they are adults. Once raised, these children are then returned to their original villages. The children who have been raised by fairies, from the time that they have been returned, never feel content with their surroundings. They tend to turn into wanderers and adventures. Aside from kidnapping, they really do no harm to people unless provoked. If provoked, they have been known to harass and pester a village with spells and curses until the entire village is destroyed.
Fairy magic is slightly different than normal magic. Fairies tend to rely heavily on sharing spell points and casting group spells. A single fairy has some power (2-4 magic levels), but usually, curses and other spells are cast by community effort.
The moral of the story is: "Don't tick off a fairy."
The fairy probably has the most extensive history of all of the creatures that I researched. In all of the stories I read, no fairies ever actually did any actual physical damage to anything. They always worked through curses and blessings. In spite of everything I read I still feel like I don't understand what a fairy is very well. But, here's a stab at it. The fairy is a small creature that is beautiful in appearance. They are wise. They have no bad feelings towards humanity. But, for some reason, they like to take children. And, lastly, they are very magical.
